The funds include alternative strategies such as convertible bond arbitrage, merger arbitrage, distressed securities, global long/short, private equity/real estate and traditional long only stock and bond strategies.  A primary advantage of the fund of funds structure is that it allows investors access to these strategies on a diversified basis and with a lower capital commitment.
